Hotel St. Gottard is at Bahnhofstrasse 87, close to the main train station. While consulting his ophthalmologist, Dr. Vogt, in the thirties, Joyce stayed in two expensive hotels on the Bahnhofstrasse: the St. Gotthard and the Hotel Carlton Elite.
